The enhanced anime retains the franchise’s familiar Japanese voice cast for its central characters:
- Masako Nozawa as Son Goku
- Koichi Yamadera as Beerus
- Ryo Horikawa as Vegeta
- Masakazu Morita as Whis
- Hiromi Tsuru as Bulma in the original series’ recordings; later Dragon Ball productions use replacement performances following her passing.
The project is based on the original work, story and character designs of Akira Toriyama. Matsuto Seya handles composition and direction arrangements, Tadayoshi Yamamuro is animation character designer and general animation director, and Norihito Sumitomo provides the music.
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Story
The story takes place several years after the defeat of Majin Buu. Earth has finally returned to peace, and Goku is enjoying a quieter life while continuing to train and search for greater strength.
That peace is threatened when Beerus, the God of Destruction, awakens from a long sleep. After hearing about a Saiyan who defeated Frieza, Beerus becomes interested in finding Goku. His extraordinary power puts Earth and its inhabitants in danger.
Goku and his allies must confront a god whose strength is far beyond anything they have faced before. The story builds toward an enormous battle involving Goku, Beerus, Vegeta, Whis and the rest of the Z Fighters.
Unlike a completely new sequel, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is an enhanced and reconstructed edition of the original Dragon Ball Super anime. It features newly added and redrawn scenes, updated visuals, revised sound and music work, and a restructured narrative designed to present the story with greater intensity and fidelity to Toriyama’s original vision.
